BASTIN JELTEMA

My name is Bastin Jeltema. I am based in Krakow, Southern Poland for the last 10+ years however, I am native Dutch. I am a very active athlete and sport is my biggest passion in life. In terms of communication I am very Dutch and am very direct. I have played many sports in my life and like most people in The Netherlands I got my first swimming lessons at the age of around 5 at School. The last 3 years, my main focus is on Triathlon and my favorite discipline is Swimming.

I am a certified running coach and as such I have trained 10k runners becoming Marathoners. As an athlete myself I have finished multiple Ironmans (Incl. Celtman & Blacklake, Xtri World Tour races), half Ironmans and olympic distances. Notable swims were during Celtman: Water temperatures of 12-15 degrees and full of jellyfish and during Blacklake: Night swim with a crossing of a rocky section from 1 lake to another. I ran a couple of marathons and a lot of races with distances varying between 10 and 25km. Future goals include definitely swimming the English channel and the Strait of Gibraltar.

What really interests me the most while coaching is to see people getting stronger, faster, smoother in what they are doing. I love to see people taking off 10 – 20 seconds of their 100m time. I love to see dedication and hard work by each individual to achieve their goals. Seeing a person breaking a new distance record or putting in a PR, makes me proud and happy.
